MICROWATT APPLICATIONS ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF ITS 4200TC DUAL CHANNEL THERMALLY COMPENSATED LITHIUM TANTALATE PYROELECTRIC IR DETECTOR WITH INTEGRATED JFET PREAMPLIFIERS.  ESPECIALLY FOR USE IN GAS DETECTION

The MWA 4200TC DUAL Lithium Tantalate Pyroelectric Detectors (LTO) is the newest device from our family of high performance IR detectors.  Especially developed for low frequency dispersive IR applications (<50 Hz.) such as multiple gas detection.  Each device includes two separate detection channels each differentially connected to an IR blind sensing element which reduces the signals associated within the micro-atmosphere of the package as well as thermal and mechanical transients.  The specially processed parallel opposed sensing elements and the integrated low noise JFET voltage mode preamplifiers are supplied in weld-sealed TO5/39 packages with many available optical windows or filters.

Two identical LTO elements are mounted in a parallel opposed arrangement including “active” and “compensating” elements.  The common mode pyroelectric signals produced by the active and compensating elements are cancelled yet only the IR energy absorbed by the active element produces a signal voltage.  The broad spectral response of the element is achieved by our proprietary optical absorber coating which is applied only to the active element.

The LTO with its very high Currie temperature (~600 C.) and low sensitivity to ambient temperature (<0.2%/ deg C.) allow operation over a wide temperature range without the need for temperature control.

In application these parts are supplied with a narrow band optical filter chosen to maximize the signal to noise of the target gas.  Windows and filters may also be specified from our Standard filter list or supplied by users.  Please feel free to contact us with your particular filter requirements.
